The Sussex Express is under new ownership.
The East Sussex newspaper and website has been sold, along with nearly 200 other titles, by JPI Media, for £10.2 million.
JPI Media, formerly known as Johnston Press, has been taken over by National World which has David Montgomery as executive chairman.
He is a former chairman of the Mirror Group.
Danny Cammiade, who once ran the southern division of Johnston Press and went on to become chief operating officer of the company, has become a non-executive director of National World.
The Sussex Express, founded in 1837, is one of a number of titles the company owns in Sussex. Others include the Eastbourne Herald, the Mid Sussex Times and the West Sussex County Times.
The sale price is a fraction of what the company was once valued at. See this report at Press Gazette. [external link]
