Members of Uckfield Junior Squash Club are pictured wearing new club shirts, thanks to two sponsors.
With them are Ian Killian of Heathfield Vets, main sponsor, left, and squash coach Stephen Holliday, whose business Final Score Sports Shop also contributed.
Players in the back row, from the left, are Oliver Southall, 13, Natalie Killian, 13, and Oliver Darlington, 14. Front, from left, are Alexander Darlington, 12, Troy Southall, 10 and Finn Holliday, 14.
Weekly training sessions are held at the Uckfield Leisure Centre and more than 30 youngsters received a shirt reflecting the growing popularity of junior squash in Uckfield.
There are sessions for improvers, beginners and team squads and each operates on a ‘drop-in’ basis with no long term commitment. Coach Mr Holliday said it was to the great credit of the youngsters that so many attended regularly.
The squad players have already played their first competitive squash in a couple of friendly matches and more are planned for the future.
Mr Killian said: “We like to put some money back into the local community and I thought this was a good project to bring on young squash players.”
Mr Killian’s daughter Natalie plays in the team squad, and is in our picture and he said she was definitely making progress with the club.
Coach Mr Holliday confirmed: “She is flying at the moment.”
