Framfield Primary School is holding a clothing collection on Thursday, October 8, to raise funds to buy books for the new school library.
Good re-useable quality clothing, in white or clear plastic bags, can be taken to the Memorial Hall at 9am on that day.
The school’s Parent Teacher and Friends’ Association (PTFA) has joined forces with EcoKids, a textile recycling project, and the organisation has promised up to £500 per tonne of clothing, or 50p per kilogram.
Rachel Brocklebank from the PTFA told Uckfield News they are pleased to be organising the clothing collection because fund-raising is significantly limited at the moment. There was no spring fair and there will be no Christmas fair.
She says money raised will go towards books for the school’s newly refurbished library.
She adds: “Both fiction and non-fiction books will be purchased. The school desperately needs to update the ageing section of books in the library.
“Sadly none of the parents have actually been able to see the new library, but the refurbished area is being fully utilised by our children throughout the week as an extra learning space.”
Items sought for the clothing collection include:
- Good quality, dry, clean clothing
- Handbags, belts
- Hats, scarves, gloves
- Soft toys in new condition
- Paired, clean, undamaged shoes, sandals, boots, trainers (please tie together)
- Costume Jewellery
For more information please contact Rachel on 07979 805329. She is also able to provide bags if needed.
