Repairs to a broken sewer in Church Street, Uckfield

Church Street, Uckfield, repairs nearly complete

Roadworks in Church Street, Uckfield, are nearly at end. The road is due to reopen tomorrow,  Thursday, December 5.

Emergency repairs to a sewer pipe led to the street’s sudden closure on November 21; see story here

Temporary traffic lights were initially installed at the junction with the High Street which allowed a contra-flow past the roadworks.

This led to long queues developing at peak times and workmen repairing the broken pipe found they needed more space.

As a result, the permanent lights were brought back into use with Church Street closed to traffic. Vehicles heading for the Rocks Park area were diverted via Snatts Road leading to complaints of vehicles speeding along this road.

Southern Water told UckfieldNews.com: “Our emergency repairs to a collapsed sewer in Church Street should be completed on Thursday.

“We understand that this work has caused disruption to people in the area and we are grateful for their patience.”
