Carvills opens seven days a week

Carvills is now open seven days a week until Christmas Day.

Opening hours until the big day are Monday to Saturday 9am-5.30pm and Sunday 10am-4pm.

Lorna Brayley from Carvills says they have a great selection of tableware and linen for Christmas including the Night Owl design from Sophie Allport which includes table runners, table mats, napkins, mugs, jugs, crackers and more.

They also have a range of silver, gold and red table cloths, runners and napkins if you would like to add a little sparkle to your Christmas table.

There are three new scents for Christmas in candles from Marmalade. They include Precious Spice, Frankincense and Golden Amaretto.

Do call in to look around. There are lots of Christmas gift ideas in the store and Christmas cards, wrapping paper, gift bags, tags and ribbon to accompany them.

Specsavers Uckfield launches Balmain eyewear collection

EYEWEAR from premium Parisian fashion label, Balmain, is the latest designer collection to be unveiled at Specsavers, Uckfield.

The Balmain range features 17 exclusive styles – 13 glasses and four prescription sunglasses and they feature upswept cat’s eye designs, as well as classic round and exaggerated angular shapes.

Look out for Balmain brand details on every frame, including a gold ‘B’ on the temple tips and detailed embellishments on the frames inspired by the Balmain belt chain collection.

A colour palette of glossy black, gold, pink and tortoiseshell has been chosen to offer the wearer variety.

Looking for a fresh Christmas tree? Staverton Nursery, at Halland, near Uckfield, has taken delivery of 1,500 and they are well displayed on frames so that you can get a good look at them.

The nursery and garden centre has introduced Christmas displays for the first time this year, taking advantage of extra space created in an extension last year and there’s a huge choice in decorations, gifts and, of course plants. The shop is open seven days a week until Christmas – including on Christmas Eve, a Sunday, when it closes at 3pm.

The shop is due to re-open on Saturday, December 30, and then again on Tuesday, January 2.

Staff at the Chestnut Tree children’s hospice charity shop wore fancy dress for late night shopping and St Trinian’s was the theme.

Popular gifts created at Kilnwood Pottery, Uckfield, are plates carrying the hand or foot prints of babies and young children.

“Lots of grandparents will be getting them for Christmas,” said studio owner Jane DeVay.

She is enjoying this special time of year, especially the group bookings, children’s parties, mums groups and people just fancying a get-together with friends.

Jane is happy to be flexible about bookings. She will work around the times wanted, no need to feel you have to fit into daytime opening hours.

Group bookings of six people or more are welcome and the studio can accommodate up to 30.

Kilnwood will be open during late night shopping so feel free to call in choose your own piece of festive pottery and get painting.
