Children’s procession gets Uckfield Carnival off to a good start

Young and old – and everyone in-between – are out enjoying Uckfield Carnival today.

The children were centre-stage this afternoon with a fancy dress procession – the biggest seen in recent years – from the Victoria Pleasure Ground to Southview Drive and back down the High Street to Holy Cross School playing field.

The future of Uckfield Carnival – its 190 year history is in safe hands.

Crowds lined the streets to support the youngsters.

The procession included the following groups: Members of Uckfield Bonfire and Carnival Society, Uckfied Performance Ensemble, Carnival Prince and Princess, members of the public in fancy dress, Debs Dancers, Holy Cross, Manor, St Philip’s, Rocks Park, and Harlands primary schools, and Spirit Elite.

Children’s fancy dress judging has taken place on Holy Cross school field.
