Chemical alert on Bellbrook Estate, Uckfield

Police said a quantity of hazardous chemicals were found on the Bellbrook Estate, Uckfield, yesterday.police-jacket-sign

People working nearby said three police vehicles and a sniffer dog homed in on the Bell Lane area.

A spokesperson for the police confirmed it was a chemical incident and said Explosive Ordnance Disposal, health and safety agencies and environmental agencies were called to offer advice on removal.

They said the chemicals were discovered at about 11.45am. The incident was not being treated as suspicious.
