A cheesemonger and delicatessen is coming to Uckfield. The business is moving into the former Candy Store in the High Street.
Work is currently under way on refurbishing the premises and the shop owners Sharon Douglas and Martin Sergison hope to open by the end of the month or early in July.
100 different cheeses
The couple used to run a similar shop in Somerset and plan to sell between 100 and 120 different types of cheese. They specialist in British cheese but will have continentals too.
There will also be a charcuterie (cold meats) and olives and locally sourced products, including chutneys and jams.
Cheesy gifts
Sharon said there would be cheesy gifts, cheese boards and anything else cheese-related in the shop.
She added that she came from Sussex originally and the couple decided to move to Uckfield to be nearer to her sister who lives in Worthing.
Sharon said: “We liked Uckfield as soon as we saw it, especially because it is surrounded by countryside, and are pleased to be opening the shop here. This is bigger than our shop in Somerset.”
