Luxford Field car park, Uckfield

Car park time limit idea aimed at Uckfield rail commuters

Nine hours will be the maximum period a vehicle can stay on Uckfield’s Luxford Field car park, if town councillors’ suggestions are accepted.

They are keen that the bulk of the spaces are allocated for short-term (shoppers’) parking with a three-hour maximum stay.

The nine-hour maximum for long-term is designed to ensure the car park is not used by rail commuters once the Network Rail car park near the station is completed.

Councillors believe the limit would still be sufficient for those who work in town centre shops and offices.

Wealden District Council, which operates the Luxford Field car park, is in the final stages of a district-wide car parking review. See our earlier story here

The time limits suggested by the town council have been sent to Wealden in response to consultation.
