Car park potholes to be filled and more parking spaces provided

Additional work at Foresters Hall in New Town, Uckfield, is to be funded by the town council.

Work is currently under way to remove a link roof, between the chapel and main hall, replace a firedoor and decorate the premises.

The total cost of the work agreed was £8,400 but now a further £3,080 is to be spent on repairing car park potholes, marking out additional car parking spaces, making doors weather tight, and reducing potential trip hazards where some utilities are above ground.

This brings the total cost of the work to £11,480 but this falls below the £16,000 budgeted for hall maintenance for 2019-20.

The town council’s Urgent Consultation Panel met on Friday and approved the additional work so that a decision was made while contractors were still on site.
