It’s business as usual at Ridgewood Post Office even though a lane closure and roadworks are making it difficult for customers to reach them.
Owners Jon and Sue Gothard say they are grateful to tenacious customers who are going out of their way to call in.
The first problem is that motorists from the Little Horsted and Brighton direction can no longer get into Lewes Road and pop into the post office while passing because of a lane closure for work on accesses to the Ridgewood Farm development.
To make matters worse three-way traffic lights have been installed at the mini roundabout at the Pipersfield junction with Lewes Road. It appears gas works are going on there.
Sue Gothard told Uckfield News: “Our customers are very tenacious and finding a way to get here and we are very grateful to them. We would ask them to please keep coming to help us through this difficult period.”
There’s a change coming up in newspaper deliveries at the post office.
Sue and Jon have managed the deliveries for 32 years but are now handing over the responsibility to Pipers News, who deliver in towns and villages across East Sussex.
Sue said: “We will have a close working relationship with them and people will still be able to call in here to pay their newspaper bills and bring in vouchers.
“Pipers are offering a good deal too, four weeks free delivery to start the new system, and eight weeks free delivery for people who set up a direct debit.”
