Bus operator to withdraw from Uckfield services

Bus operator Renown is to pull out of operating some services in the Uckfield and Heathfield areas.

East Sussex County Council confirmed the company will no longer be providing some services (listed below) as of December 28. The council expects to find a replacement operator.

Affected bus services

54         Uckfield town service (the 09:05 is the only journey affected)

317       Heathfield town service

318       Uckfield – Framfield – Blackboys – Heathfield – Burwash – Etchingham – Hurst Green

355       Heathfield – Rushlake Green – Dallington – Brightling – Netherfield – Battle

An East Sussex County Council spokesman said: “We have been informed by the operator, Renown, that they will no longer be running some services after December 28, including some routes operating in and around Uckfield and Heathfield.

“The council is making arrangements for replacement services. These will take some time to organise but we expect them to be in place by Monday, December 30.

“The replacement services will need to be affordable in terms of the council’s limited budget, so some changes to services cannot be ruled out, particularly to poorly-used journeys on services 317, 318 and 355.

“Any changes to busy school journeys are expected to be minimal.”
