Burglars targeted two Uckfield charity shops overnight. They forced their way through rear doors and stole loose cash, the float, and small valuables such as watches and pieces of jewellery, none of it clearly identifiable.Police sign

Sgt Simon Kind, of Uckfield Police, who described the break-ins as “pretty disgusting” said the shops raided were Age UK and Sense, each on opposite sides of the High Street. Forensics officers were investigating.

Sgt Kind told Uckfield News he had visited other charity shops in town this morning to make sure they were ok and to make them aware the thieves could return and target other shops. All eight visited were going to review their security arrangements.

Sgt Kind said it wasn’t known what time the break-ins happened. He appealed for information from anybody who saw anything suspicious at any time overnight, either at the front or the back of shops.

The crime reference number is 212 of November 8, 2016. If you have information please call Sussex Police on 101.
