Burglar steals till drawer from Uckfield Rugby Club

Police are looking for a man who broke into Uckfield Rugby Club and ran off a till drawer … which was empty.

Details have only just been released of the burglary which happened at about 5am on Thursday, May 28.

A man, captured on CCTV, climbed the main gate into the rugby club grounds, used a brick to smash the glass on the pitch exit door, and went upstairs to the till behind the bar.

The till screen was smashed with the same brick and the burglar left with the till drawer, running across the rugby pitch towards Mitchelham Road and woods nearby.

Police said the till drawer was empty as the club has been closed since March because of the Coronavirus.

PC Rebecca Walter said: “If you think you know who this man is, please let us know. You can contact us online or by calling 101, quoting serial 254, of 28/05.”
