An example of the damage in Oaklea Way, Uckfield

Builders and Wealden council say sorry to Oaklea Way residents

An apology has been issued for the mess contractors have caused in the Oaklea Way area of the Rocks Park estate in Uckfield during the construction of new homes.

The problems were highlighted in this story.

Immediately, East Sussex County Council swung into action to get repairs put in hand.

Now Wealden District Council, which is developing the site at Grants Hill Court, and its builder have said sorry.

In a statement the council said:

“Both Wealden District Council and Thakeham Client (the contractor) apologise for any disruption to neighbours during the redevelopment of Grants Hill Court.

“Thakeham will carry out remedial works to the kerbs and soft landscape areas to rectify the problem by Friday, December 22, subject to a licence from East Sussex County Council.

“Thakeham will also be installing temporary bollards to ensure that there is no further reoccurrence of this issue.

“Thakeham will be writing to the residents to update them on the progress of the redevelopment and apologise for the situation.”
