Buggy workout classes for mums and babies are to be launched in Uckfield by new mums Jess Lloyd and Lindsay Willis.
Both are experienced fitness instructors – and well known for running Universal Dance classes – with young children and new-borns themselves. They are First Aid qualified and DBS cleared.
The sessions are to be held on Mondays from 9.30am to 10.15am at the Luxford Field in the centre of Uckfield starting on Monday, June 13.
Lindsay said: “I think Uckfield is screaming out for this class. Mums don’t have the opportunity of doing anything alone so why should exercising be any different.
“Mums want to get back into shape to feel good about themselves but also want to be a healthy role model for their children.
“This class allows mums to get that workout while spending time with their little ones. They don’t have to feel guilty about leaving them in a creche and can be finished and feeling good all before lunchtime.”
Jess said they were starting the class because they were keen to get back to fitness themselves while still enjoying maternity leave – the babies will be just three months old by the time the classes start.
She added: “We know a number of mums and friends in the area who have expressed interest in a class like this that can accommodate young children when childcare is difficult. It’s tricky trying to find time to attend classes without grandparents able to have children each week, or without feeling guilty about having time to yourself.
“This class aims to offer exercise and ‘mummy and me’ time in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, the chance to meet new friends, and we might even be able to enjoy sunshine occasionally too.”
