Brighter Uckfield to plant trees to mark Queen’s

An offer by the Brighter Uckfield Campaign (BUC) to plant trees has been accepted by councillors. Two areas have been identified: one at West Park and the other on the Harlands Farm Estate.harlands_sign

Town councillors have accepted planting on a site stretching from the West Park pavilion to the bollards between Calvert Road and Lashbrooks Road and at Harlands, where the council is seeking to put a hedge along the boundary with the road.

Will Humphries, from BUC told the council that the Woodland Trust is offering free tree packs to communities to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. His letter said of West Park: “I’d suggest that either two rows of trees are planted as an avenue along the worn path of waker, or we go for a more semi-woodland effect.”

He added: “The trees can also be used to create hedging too.”
