Brighter Uckfield and Southern Railway join forces to improve station environment

Brighter Uckfield and Southern Railway are launching a partnership next week to work together to improve Uckfield Railway Station environment.

Chairman of Brighter Uckfield Ian Smith said the arrangement was putting onto a formal footing what had already been achieved by the group of volunteers.

He said: “This now allows us to tap into more resources to make the station environment far more enjoyable for all concerned. We would welcome suggestions from rail travellers for how they would like the station to look.”

Mr Smith said the aim of the Uckfield Station Partnership was for the volunteers and railway company to work together enabling everyone involved to see the benefits. This might include an art exhibition produced by a local school, and planting out and looking after the garden areas.
