Blackboys cafe and community hub closes permanently

The Grove Farmhouse Cafe and Community Hub, at Blackboys, has closed permanently.

Andrew and Emma Doherty, pictured below in happier times, who have run the business for eight years say the Coronavirus pandemic has exacerbated their situation and the sustainability of the hospitality sector in general.

They say: “The unknown future timescale of lockdown, social isolation, people’s confidence to go out, and financial instability on a wider scale, makes future planning almost impossible.

“All we’ve been able to do is look at what we know, make educated guesses at what we think may happen and pray for wisdom.

Vision

“When we opened eight years ago our vision was to provide a community hub and to create an environment where all feel welcome and safe.

“It has been a real pleasure to welcome so many different people into the Grove, both staff, customers and suppliers.

Grateful

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported The Grove over the years and we take away many precious relationships and memories.

“We do hope and pray that you all remain safe and well and we look forward to seeing you as we all go about our business in the community. Take care and God bless.”
