Baker Street, off Framfield Road, Uckfield, is to be closed for one day in November while water meters are installed.
South East Water is holding a drop-in session to discuss the planned work. It will be held at The Alma Arms, Framfield Road, on Wednesday, September 23, from 3-5pm.
The company says its customer metering programme has now reached Uckfield and as part of its drive to install water meters for 90 per cent of customers by 2020 it needs to carry out the work in Baker Street.
“As the road is very narrow it will need to be closed to keep the public and the contractor safe while the meters are installed. It is expected the work will take place in November and be completed in just one day.”
Metering manager Oluseyi Onifade said; “Our customer metering programme is an important part of making sure we all have enough water to meet our future needs.
“Water meters also help us detect leaks, encourage customers to think about their water use, and is ultimately a fairer way of paying for water.
“By moving to a water meter, customers have complete control over their water usage and bills – like gas and electricity, customers only pay for what they use.”
