Young volunteers are being celebrated at an awards evening in Uckfield next month and there is still time to nominate the winners.
Every young person nominated will be recognised but there will be five special awards at the event being organised by Uckfield Volunteer Centre.
They are for fund-raising, commitment, caring, environmental, and outstanding contribution.
Any organisation, group, or charity, that has been impressed by the efforts of young people in the community are welcome to nominate them for recognition.
All you have to do is download a form on the volunteer centre website and complete it giving reasons for the nomination and return it to the centre at 79 High Street, next to Final Score, or email it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The deadline, which has been extended to allow more entries, is Monday, July 1. The awards evening is on Thursday, July 11, from 5.30-7.30pm at Uckfield College.
Volunteer centre manager Ann Montier said the organisation has been working towards organising awards for young people over the past year.
A Kindness Day was held in November, classes have been held in primary schools and volunteering has been encouraged for all age groups.
The centre works with Duke of Edinburgh Award students to find placements and has helped find volunteers to run a re-started youth club in Downsview Crescent, on the Manor Park Estate, Uckfield.
Ann said: “This year has been one of trying to inspire and encourage young people to put something back into the community in which they live. Now it is time to celebrate all they are doing.”
