The police made their appeal as they investigate a 25-year-old man being struck by a vehicle in Uckfield. They are also asking for witnesses to the incident to come forward.

Andy Owen has posted on the Uckfield News Facebook page: “This is my van and I know nothing about the alleged incident. I have been in contact with the police.”

From our original story: Police are appealing for witnesses after a 25-year-old man was struck by a vehicle in Uckfield.

The victim and his friend were crossing the High Street between Costa Coffee and Natwest bank at around 10.20am on Sunday, February 26.

While crossing, the victim collided with the rear trailer being towed by a van. As a result he was knocked to the floor and sustained a fractured kneecap and torn ligaments. It is thought that the driver may be unaware that they collided with the man.

The police are appealing for the driver of the van shown in the CCTV image to come forward and help with enquiries.

Similarly the police are keen to speak to anyone else who was in the area at the time and may have seen what happened to get in touch.

Anyone with information is asked to email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting serial 453 of 26/02.
