A stunning design in which Uckfield-based D&D played a key role

Another prestige job for Uckfield company

Uckfield-based company Design and Display Structures (D&D) beat off international competition to deliver a complex design from renowned architects Zaha Hadid for new exhibiton/gallery space in London.

D&D’s Allan Curtis worked with his team in close partnership with the main contractor Galliford Try Construction, concept designers Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) and a team of associated specialist trades including the Dupont paint technical team, Tressler Coachworks, Uckfield, (paint application) and Architen Landrell (tensile stretched fabric) to achieve a sweeping serpentine effect desired on a challenging renovation and development.

The 3D models and preliminary design details were created by Allan’s design team as they progressed towards the next phase, the slicing up of the scheme into component parts, to enable the bespoke tooling moulds to take their individual shapes.

All manufactured off site for maximum convenience, these prefinished modular cladding sections were then loaded in protective recyclable crates purpose built by D&D fabricators at Tressler spray shop for safe transportation and fast installation.
