There’s empty sky now where the distinctive science building used to be at Uckfield College.
Demolition was proceeding at pace yesterday, and the building which looked derelict only a couple of weeks ago, and which was in full use the previous school year had gone.
It was only a matter of time before this happened because a new school building, stretching along the front of the college site, was completed and occupied by September last year.
Work is also under way on another new building to the south of the site with the framework now visible.
In addition the building housing the Pamphilon Theatre, described as the ‘hockey stick’ building in a planning application, probably because of its shape from above, was being re-roofed.
The Sixth Form Centre, and art block, will remain and rugby pitches and a Multi-Use Games area will be at the centre of the site.
The plan below, shown at the time the new college scheme was revealed, shows how the site will be laid out.
