All change at Hartfields this weekend as builders prepare to knock down wall

It will be all change at Hartfields Produce Store next week with food being served from a truck so builders can knock down a wall and complete redevelopment and extension of the restaurant.

Saturday will be the last day of ‘normal’ trading. The restaurant will be closed on Sunday, but then on Monday it will reopen in a truck outside offering a pared down takeaway Hartfields menu.

Outside seating will be available and business owner James Hartfield is keeping fingers crossed for good weather.

Work continues to lay paving slabs in place of tarmac outside shops in the area known as White Rails, Uckfield. Hartfields will bring a truck onto the land tomorrow so food and drinks can be served from it on Monday.

Four people will be working in the truck, serving a basic breakfast, lunch, coffee and cake for about three and a half weeks. It is hoped the news Hartfields will open around Thursday, June 27.

Uckfield News was yesterday able to take a look inside the premises next door to Hartfields where work has been progressing on refurbishment over the past few weeks.

A bar is going in and the wall between the two premises is marked ready to be knocked down on Monday.

Meanwhile new paving is gradually going down in the courtyard area outside the shops in the area known as White Rails which is set back from the High Street, in a joint project involving the private landlord and Uckfield Town Council.
