Agreement has been reached on the sale of two plots of land on the Ashdown Business Park at Maresfield with contracts now being drawn up by solicitors.
An offer has been made on a third site and serious interest has been expressed in a fourth.
Commercial agent Chris Lawson of Lawson Commercial is pleased with progress on selling the land.
He said there were very few units of between 15,000 and 20,000 sq ft in East Sussex so when people enquired and there were none available he always asked whether they could afford to wait to have something put up for them at Maresfield.
The plots that are in the hands of solicitors are site four, the biggest at 3.9 acres. A storage and distribution business from outside the area is taking that on.
Site five, of 1.21 acres, described as a headquarters building for a small to medium size manufacturing company, is being taken on by an existing Uckfield business.
Sites nine and ten respectively are of 0.91 acres and 1.08 acres. Site nine is four small light industrial units set within two opposing buildings and site ten is a terrace of four small light industrial starter units.
Work is expected to start on infrastructure at the Ashdown Business Park at the end of this month and take 20 weeks.
It will include moving sewers which run across the land and putting in utilities and roads.
Once that is finished then those who have committed and exchanged contracts to buy their plots will be able to start building their units.
Chris said it would probably be summer next year by the time a basic buildings could be in place and then they would have to be fitted out.
He added: “The site will look completely different once the infrastructure is down. When the new road goes in all the sites will be marked out and people will be able to drive up and look at a plan.”
