Two more parking spaces could be added to Uckfield High Street as part of the improvement works to begin in January.
The revised plan originally showed 23 spaces but now the total could be upped to 25.
Cllr Carl Maynard, county council lead member meeting for transport, gave permission, at a meeting last week, for up to two spaces to be dedicated for the disabled.
It was not immediately clear if the two spaces were within the 23 or in addition.
An Uckfield News.com inquiry to county hall produced the following response: “Any disabled spaces would be in addition to the 23 standard parking spaces.”
The parking spaces will be limited to 30 minutes waiting.
Update on Monday, September 21, at 12.40pm: The county council has now added: “It’s not actually the case that the lead member decided there ‘must’ be two disabled spaces – he gave permission for ‘up to’ two extra disabled spaces to be included. They’re still looking at how the existing plan could be amended to accommodate any extra disabled spaces so depending on the outcome of that there could end up being one, two or even none.”
