One of the oldest buildings in Uckfield will soon boast having the latest technology within its walls and under its floors.
Bridge Cottage which dates back to the early 15th century is having 21st century lights, power, fire alarms, data cables, audio, security, hearing aid loop system, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth systems fitted.
And a Ground Source Heat pump is being installed to heat and cool the building in the future.
In the winter the pump will take heat from four bore holes, drilled to a depth of 150 metres in the forecourt of the cottage, to supply the underfloor heating system.
In the summer it will work in reverse, taking heat from the cottage and sending it back into the ground.
Pipes for the underfloor heating have been installed and the screed, into which they are embedded, is due to be laid next week.
All this, and insulation layers beneath the pipes will be hidden when the original brick pavers are re-laid towards the end of the project.
