Our June’s Wedding is coming up in Buxted next month and, thanks to Uckfield Festival, we’re all invited.
The audience at this drama at St Mary’s Church will play the part of guests at a wedding where things don’t turn out quite as the family would have liked. The show will move to the next door church for the reception.
This is just one of the events coming up at Uckfield Festival which begins on Friday, July 7, and runs until Sunday, July 16.
Our June’s Wedding takes place on, Saturday, July 15, from 2.30pm to 4pm and, as with many events, tickets can be booked online.
Holy Cross bellringers will sound a quarter peal to launch the festival so listen out for them on the first Friday evening, the 7th, from 6.30pm to 7.15pm.
The Big Day Out takes place on Saturday, July 8, and Same Sky which has worked with the festival for years is helping schools develop the theme of Space and the Fantastical for the always spectacular and colourful parade.
You’ll also be able to have your picture taken in replica medieval stocks at Bridge Cottage on the same day and that evening there will be a Talent Showcase hosted by Uckfield Theatre Guild.
On Sunday, July 9, there will be a classic car and bike show on the Luxford Field, and the festival is delighted that the Billy Walton Band from the USA will be playing at the Civic Centre that night. They will be supported by Uckfield’s-own rock and blues band Red Butler.
Award-winning guitar virtuoso and composer Laura Snowden will play at Bridge Cottage on Thursday, July 13 and Teen Spirit 2017, a showcase for youth acts and bands will take place on Friday, July 14.
Comedian Dr Phil Hammond, who has appeared on Have I Got News for You, Jack Dee’s Helpdesk, The News Quiz, and more, is bringing his one-man show to the Civic Centre during the evening.
Uckfield’s own Grand Prix takes place on Sunday, July 15, when about 20 teams of ten and 11-year-olds from primary schools will compete in kit cars they have built and customised themselves.
You’ll find more musical performances at the Uckfield Festival Club in the Luxford Lounge each evening during the week from Monday, July 10, to Thursday, July 13.
There will be guided walks around town and many other events – including a writing workshop for children – to enjoy. For a list of highlights see two pages on the Uckfield Events website starting here.
