Former Trading 4U premises in Bell Lane, Uckfield, soon to be refurbished.

Work should begin soon on former Trading 4U premises, Uckfield

Work should begin soon on refurbishing the former Trading 4U premises in Uckfield which have been empty for the past two and a half years.

The keys of the building have been handed over to the new leaseholders, Howden Joinery, by chartered surveyors Oldfield Smith & Co, who marketed the building, writes Cathy Watson.

Richard Oldfield, one of the directors at Oldfield Smith, said the fence would be coming down soon at numbers 4 and 6 Bell Lane as there were plans to get on quickly with refurbishing the premises.

One of the two units, number 4 closest to Halfords, will accommodate a trade counter, warehouse and distribution centre for Howden while the other will be going back on the market once the work is complete.

Mr Oldfield said: “This is extremely good news for the town. The building is not looking terribly happy and the surroundings are appalling but Howdens will be turning it around.”
