Work began last week on the new headquarters for Uckfield firm Gunnebo … and the sale of their current premises was announced.
An official ground-breaking ceremony was held at the Ashdown Business Park, Maresfield.
Doug Stewart, chief executive of Salmon Developments, and Mark Woods, managing director of Marbank Construction were on site as work began at Maresfield on the new £3.5 million 20,000 square foot building.
Safety equipment supplier Gunnebo has signed a 15-year lease to take on the premises – which will be next door to a John Lewis distribution centre – when work is completed in April 2018.
Mr Stewart said: “We are delighted to be delivering this high quality building which will enable Gunnebo to meet the next phase of their business growth.”
Lawson Commercial has announced that they have acquired the freehold of the current Gunnebo building at 1/2 Optimus Park on the Bellbrook Estate, Uckfield, on behalf of a private investment company based in Essex.
The building was built in the late 1980s and comprises just over 30,000 sq ft of accommodation of which 9,000 sq ft is offices on ground and first floors.
Lawson Commercial partner Chris Lawson said ‘We were very pleased to have been able to act for this investment company who are moving into the area and have acquired the freehold of this property paying a price close to the asking figure of £2.3 million.
“Gunnebo Entrance Control Ltd will remain in occupation until the early part of 2018 when they are due to relocate to their brand new headquarters building which is now under construction on the Ashdown Business Park at Maresfield.
“The investment company then intend to move one of their manufacturing subsidiaries into the building at Optimus Park.”
Lawson Commercial also handled the deal with Salmon Developments at the Ashdown Business Park.
