‘Woman’s drink spiked at party in Uckfield bar’

A woman has reported to police that her daughter’s drink was spiked while she was at a private party at a bar in Uckfield on Friday night (September 30).Police sign

The 20-year-old became ill and unable to move after drinking a cocktail, according to her mother who reported the incident to police on Sunday for awareness.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman told Uckfield News: “We work closely with licensed premises to keep people safe.

“Police officers, security staff and bar staff are very watchful and remind revellers to keep their drinks with them.

“During night time visits police licensing staff will give words of advice to people who have left their drinks unattended.

“This level of vigilance and positive intervention has proved successful in ensuring the numbers of confirmed cases of drink spiking in Sussex are extremely low.”

The spokeswoman said the mother reported the incident happened “at a private party at a bar in Uckfield High Street”.
