Universal Dance launches classes for pre-school children

New dance classes for pre-school children are being launched by Universal Dance.

They include UD’s Littlies for toddlers, aged 18 months to two-and-a-half-years, and Sugar and Spice and Slugs and Snails classes for pre-school children aged two-and-a-half-years to four.

P

UD’s Littlies meet on Fridays. This is a Mummy and Me dance class giving chance to spend time with you little one helping them discover more about themselves and what they can do with their bodies.

A highly qualified teacher will spend time getting to know you and your child using fun dance games, sing-along songs and props such as bubbles, scarfs and hoops. The classes will help your child to develop fine motor skills, grow in confidence and ultimately fall in love with dance and everything it has to offer.

UDs Sugar n Spice

Sugar and Spice classes will be held on Fridays and Saturdays and will bring fairy wings, tutus, tiaras, rainbows and glitter together in a fun and creative ballet class.

Ballet is the foundation of most dance training and this is a chance to introduce your little one to dance in a class led by a highly qualified ballet teacher and designed especially for younger dancers.

Your little ballerina will be encouraged to use props, be introduced to different types of music and will learn the first building blocks of ballet, ready to take them on to their next stage of dance training whatever that may be.

UDs Slugs and Snails2

Slugs and Snails will meet on Friday and shows that dance doesn’t have to be girly. Following in the footsteps of its sister class Sugar and Spice, Slugs and Snails is designed as a feeder class into an ever-growing street dance programme at Universal Dance.

The dance company prides itself on being the only dance company in the local area to offer authentic Street Dance training.

Slugs and Snails will concentrate on grounded and solid dance movement based around Street Dance techniques and, with the help of a highly-qualified teacher your child will learn how to release their “inner groove”.

The class will be themed each week and will use a range of props such as capes, masks and hats to enhance your child’s learning and introduce them to Street Dance culture.

The pre-school classes start the week commencing  Monday, April 13 and to book a complimentary taster session please get in touch with Universal Dance by email at info@universaldance.co.uk, call 07885 528356 or visit www.universaldance.co.uk.

There are Cheerleading classes too

Universal Dance holds cheerleading classes too with two squads performing regularly at platforms across the South East and competing in local Cheer competitions.

The squads meet weekly and are trained by a qualified British Cheerleading Coach with extra training from a qualified gymnastics coach who works with other cheerers and gymnasts to improve their tum bling skills.

Universal Cheerers were placed third at the British Cheerleading Association Classics in November 2014.

Classes are held on Mondays at Rocks Park School in Uckfield with the Youth Squad meeting from 4.30-5.30pm and the Junior Squad meeting from 5.30-6.30pm. The first class is free of charge.
