Uckfield Twinning Association sends message of support after Paris attacks

Uckfield Twinning Association has sent a message to friends in France following terror attacks in Paris on Friday night.

David Sudbery, chair of the association said in a letter sent to Uckfield’s twin town of Arques-la-Bataille:

“What a terrible time! We hope that you and your families are safe and we want to let you know that the thoughts of all your friends in Uckfield are with you.

“Lots of buildings were illuminated with tricolor today and there was a spontaneous singing of the Marseillaise in Trafalgar Square last night. But generally, there is just a feeling of numb incomprehension. Words do not seem adequate.”

Mr Sudbery added that members of the twinning association have been invited to spend a day in Paris next year and he explained they would not be deterred.

The death toll after Friday’s attack stands at 129. More than 350 were injured.
