Uckfield town councillor quits

Jacqueline Beckford has quit as a member of Uckfield Town Council.

She was first elected in May 2015 as a Liberal Democrat for the Ridgewood Ward but subsequently became an Independent.uckfield-town-council-un

There are two ways the vacancy can be filled.

  1. If ten electors from the ward make a written request for an election will be held; or, if no such request is made,
  2. The council will co-opt a new member.

This is the first resignation from the council which was elected on May 7, 2015.

Attendance record

Councillors’ attendance records were given in a document at this year’s annual town meeting.

The statistics were produced by Uckfield Town Council and showed Cllr Beckford had an overall attendance record of 67 per cent in the period April 4, 2016 to March 31 this year.

She attended six of the possible eight full council meetings and four of the possible seven meetings of the environment and leisure committee, of which she was a member.

She was not a member of the plans or general purposes committees.
