Uckfield Town Council to replace three street lights

Three street lighting columns owned by Uckfield Town Council are to be replaced.

Two are in Keld Drive and the other in Grange Road.

An inspection of the columns has revealed some type of structural problem that means they should changed.

Reserves

The town council has reserves to pay for work on its street lights and the money will be taken from these funds.

Four more lamp standards in Keld Drive, one in London Road and another in Selby Rise were identified in the same East Sussex County Council structural tests as being in need of replacement in the medium term.

Precept

When the town council is setting its budget, it usually sets money aside for street lighting repairs.

The budget process is under way, although final decisions on the precept are generally not made until the new year.

*Many street lights in the town are provided by East Sussex County Council, with the town council responsible for just 189.
