Assistant town clerk and responsible finance officer Christine Wheatley has agreed to undertake the duties and responsibilities of town clerk while a replacement for Ashley Serpis is found.
Uckfield mayor Cllr Louise Eastwood said: “It is with great pleasure that I can announce that Christine Wheatley has accepted the council’s offer to take on the clerk’s role on an interim basis, with immediate effect.
“Christine has long service with the council and has acted on an interim basis in the past.”
The closing date for applications for the position of town clerk is February 5, and interviews will take place over the two days February 29 and March 1.
