Jade, a runner-up in the popular BBC 2 TV series, has set up a JustGiving page where raffle tickets are £1 each.

Her original fund-raising target was £200 but early this morning she had already collected £350.

Jade says: “The Sussex Air Ambulance is a charity very close to my heart. If it wasn’t for them a friend of my family wouldn’t be here today.”

The teenager, who spent years training as a triathlete until injury forced her to give up, has raised funds for the air ambulance before by doing an open water swim and says she will continue helping them because the charity totally relies on donations to keep running and what they do is save lives.

The raffle closes on Sunday, December 11, and after that the winner of the Janome 215s sewing machine will be announced. Details can be found on Jade’s JustGiving page.

Jade lives in Ridgewood with her parents Nyree and Mark, sisters Jema and Joolz and brother Joel.

She has a busy time coming up as she helps out at local events. She will be opening a Christmas fair at Ridgewood Village hall on Saturday, December 3, which runs from 10am to 1pm, and will be sewing with children at a Christmas fair at Rocks Park Primary School on December 10, which runs from 2-4pm.
