Ryan’s of Uckfield is due to close tomorrow at noon (Wednesday, April 20) for refurbishment.
The family run High Street shop is due to re-open a fortnight later on Wednesday, May 4.
Owners Rosie and Daryl Ryan are looking forward to the arrival of new shop front equipment, bistro furniture, flooring and total redecoration.
The work will create much needed extra space for customers.
The plan is to have high tables and chairs in windows at front of the shop.
The serving area will be sited at the end of the shop rather than in the present L-shape.
Currently there is seating for five people but that will increase to ten.
Daryl said the fare would remain the same with the emphasis on quick preparation of sandwiches and baguettes for lunchtime customers.
He added the shop would continue to open early from about 5.20am for commuters, builders, school children and office staff.
“This will be a new look with new fittings and furniture for the first time in many, many years,” said Daryl.
“We are looking forward to the changes and once we re-open will consider opening later into the evening.
“Ryan's will be a place for you to come and watch the world go by, in comfortable surroundings with reasonably priced food and drink and friendly helpful staff.”
