Going for promotion

It is riding high in the Sussex 1 league and has hopes of promotion at the end of the season.

The club has successful sections for minis, juniors, colts, and two senior teams. Some of the older players compete in veteran matches.

It also has a growing women’s section.

Nutley Windmill

A grant of £6,078 to the preservation society is for Nutley Windmill to help pay for electrical work and restoration.

The mill is in working order and is a visitor attraction.

A Wealden council report said the lighting and appliances at the mill were low energy and corn is ground using wind power.

Uckfield Bonfire and Carnival Society

Sussex Wildlife Trust has been awarded £3,309 for fencing, signage and pump kit for livestock water at Wealden-based reserves in Brickfield Meadow, Fairwarp; and at Eridge and on the Ashdown Forest.

Hadlow Down Playing Fields Association will receive £2,000 towards portable goals, corner flags and a line-marker.

Uckfield Bonfire and Carnival Society  gets £1,000 towards road closure signs.
