Uckfield Ridgewood Rise plan hits a snag

Plans for a new care home at the Ridgewood Rise site in Uckfield will have to be re-submitted.

Wealden District Council has found the application to be “incomplete”, members of Uckfield Town Council plans committee were told.

The agent/applicant will have to provide further details.

The original application was for a two/three storey care home on the cleared site of Ridgewood Rise at High View Lane, Uckfield.

Residents’ concerns

In September UckfieldNews.com reported on residents’ concerns about the care home plan and that they did not think they had been given sufficient time to object.

The scheme for the site is being promoted by St Matthews Healthcare and is for a two-storey (part three-storey) home with 75 bedrooms.

Special sale price

The near one-acre site was previously a care home which closed in 2008 and was demolished the following year.

East Sussex County Council sold the land at less than market value, under the terms of an Act of Parliament, because the sale would improve well-being.
