Uckfield Lions to present 50th anniversary benches

Uckfield Lions Club is giving a number of benches to the town to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

They will replace four benches along the eastern side of Luxford Field which are in relatively poor condition.

The town council accepted the Lions’ offer at a meeting on Monday (February 25).

Benches similar to the Lest We Forget one installed in November last year in Southview Drive are under consideration.

The Lions are thinking the Luxford Field benches would have the Lions logo and phrase along the lines of 50 years serving the community.

The Lions are also going to be asked to replace a damaged bench at the bottom of Streatfield Road which people find useful as a resting place when walking to and from town.

Some tree planting is also consideration to mark the anniversary.
