An Uckfield Line train at London Bridge station

Uckfield Line trains: times change in new timetable

It is all change on the Uckfield Line from Sunday, May 20, as virtually all services will have new departure times in a changed timetable.

The massive shake-up is across the whole Southern network and allows for the expansion of the Thameslink services through London.

Monday to Friday timetable

Buxted departures are four minutes later.

The first train of the day will depart Uckfield at 0510hrs arriving at London Bridge at 0623hrs.

Next train is the 0531hrs, arriving at London Bridge at 0653hrs.

Departures continue at 0633, 0703, 0733, 0803, 0833, 0933 and 1003 – this service terminates at East Croydon at 1106hrs.

Services from 1033 are then at XX33 past the hour until 1733hrs.

The next train is 1803 with the half hourly service continuing until 1933. The last three trains of the day are at 2033, 2133 and 2233.

Trains from London Bridge

One big change with departures from London Bridge in the afternoons is that there will no longer be what people term the “Oxted shuttles”, made up of the 1538 and 1638hrs services from London to Uckfield, which then go back and forth to Oxted, covering the intermediate stations which many other services at this time do not stop at.

All services will now halt at all stations between Crowborough and Edenbridge Town.

Commuter trains depart London Bridge at 1607hrs arriving in Uckfield at 1722, 1637 (1752), 1707 (1822), 1737 (1852), 1807 (1922), 1907 (2022) and then XX07 until 2307.

Arrivals at Buxted are four minutes before Uckfield.

Uckfield Line evening services will be fast to East Croydon and then fast to Oxted. At present services from the 2004 stop at a number of other stations on their way to Oxted.

Comment by Paul Watson

If trains are late-running towards Uckfield they often terminate at Crowborough with passengers for Buxted and Uckfield having to disembark and await the next down train (or make alternative arrangements).

With no shuttles, there could be a long wait if the 1807 from London Bridge does the “Crowborough reverse”.

The next train is not until an hour later.

Under the present timetable, with the shuttle, there is only a 30-minute delay.
