Uckfield Leisure Centre hosts Blooming Great Tea Party

Uckfield Leisure Centre played host yesterday (Sunday, June 14) to a Blooming Great Tea Party held to raise funds for Marie Curie, a charity offering care and support for people living with a terminal illness.

Cakes were donated for sale by Uckfield businesses including KC News and Bird in Eye Farm.

The stall was manned by members of the Marie Curie Uckfield Fund-raising Group and on display was a painting created especially for the occasion by local artist Janet Orpwood, and framed free of charge by Uckfield Framing Company.

It celebrated a quintessential English garden tea party and Janet and her husband Adrian also made ‘cardmarks’ – cards which can be turned into bookmarks – replicating the scene so they could be sold on the day.
