Uckfield Framing Company is celebrating ten years at its premises on the Bellbrook Estate, and has just launched a new mobile-friendly website.
Uckfield Framing Company was formed as an offshoot of a commercial interior design business called Tim Benians Associates supplying decor and artefacts to restaurants both in the UK and overseas.
Tim said: “As each new restaurant required up to 1000 items of both two and three-dimensional decor, it soon became clear there were a great many picture frames to be made.
“So premises were found, and production began, initially, on supplying these overseas projects but it soon became evident that the same premises, personnel and equipment could very easily produce bespoke framing for the local market just as well … so Uckfield Framing Company was born.”
The company has grown steadily over the decade, forging links with local businesses, individuals and artists, becoming well established over the whole south east. Last November this success was recognised at the Uckfield Business Awards, where the company won the Tradesperson of the Year award. This trophy has, of course, been framed and put on display at the workshop.
As well as being a local picture framer Tim was responsible for bringing the Uckfield Art Trail into being.
The Art Trail, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, is now established as part of the Uckfield Festival and Uckfield Framing Company retains strong links with many local artists and craftspeople through it.
Uckfield Framing Company is based at 6 Riverside in a workshop equipped with specialist framing equipment and a separate wood and metal workshop. It has a small gallery where visitors are greeted and cards, prints and framed work by local photographers and artists are for sale.
