Uckfield firefighters help at major incidents

Uckfield firefighters were called to Rottingdean this afternoon to help at a serious fire in a residential property.

The Uckfield bulk water carrier was mobilised at 3.50pm because of a shortage of water. A second carrier was also requested from West Sussex Fire Service.fire_modern_engine

An Uckfield crew worked with Hailsham firefighters yesterday when several hundred tons of compost were on fire at the Whitesmith recycling plant. They were called out, with the carrier at 2.45pm, and left the scene at midnight

Just two hours later they were called out again at 1.50am to Newhaven where 60 firefighters tackled a major blaze in a perfume factory.

On Saturday at 2pm the carrier attended a large barn fire near Horsted Keynes.
