Two crews attended the incident at 6pm and found a badly damaged car which had been involved in a head-on collision with a tree.

The roof was crushed down and a paramedic accessed the vehicle via the sunroof to treat the casualty.

Fire service watch manager Ian Ritchie said it took 35 minutes to remove the roof and two doors as the worked around the paramedic and in deep mud on one side of the car.

Mr Ritchie said the casualty was released with “surprisingly minor injuries” and transferred to hospital by ambulance.
