Uckfield Festival programme to be announced in May

The programme – and theme – of this year’s Uckfield Festival is to be announced the week beginning Monday, May 15.

Committee member Dave Sudbery would only give hints about what will be included and they were:

A blues band will be flying in from New Jersey for a special gig.

A top comedian, who has appeared on Have I got News for You, Jack Dee’s Helpdesk, The News Quiz, The Now Show, Question Time, Trust me I’m a Doctor, The One Show and Countdown, will be here

Bridge Cottage will take a leading role in the festival with special music.

There will also be an unusual drama production, special event for car lovers and activities for children.

Mr Sudbery said: “There will be the usual emphasis on local talent with two showcase events as well as free gigs every evening in the Festival Club.”

A spectacular children’s procession, and the Big Day, with stalls and entertainment on the Luxford Field, will take place on Saturday, July 8.

Read more about the festival in a report of the committee’s annual meeting held in November.
