Uckfield council taxpayers will soon know new rate

Update on Friday, February 18, 2011: Wealden Council approved its budget on Wednesday and, as expected, decided against an increase in council tax.

Council taxpayers in Uckfield look set to pay only slightly more when the new rate is finally agreed.

Most authorities have agreed to a “nil increase” in their part of the council tax.

They are: East Sussex County Council, Sussex Police Authority and the East Sussex Fire Authority.

On Wednesday (February 16) a full meeting of Wealden District Council will be recommended to approve its budget, which also shows a 0% per cent increase in its council tax.

The only council to show an increase this year is Uckfield Town Council.

It has agreed to increase its precept by 0.95 per cent which translates as a 0.04 per cent increase for band D council taxpayers.

Parishes outside Uckfield also set their own precepts.
