Uckfield Chamber president juggles rugby commitment and office move

Uckfield Chamber of Commerce president Fiona Monson has opened an office in Haywards Heath after launching a new business.

Fiona, who will be stepping down as president at a Chamber meeting later this month, plans to stay a member and to continue networking at other town events.

Her new business Solvency Solutions LLP is based at the Basepoint Business Centre, in Bridge Road, Haywards Heath. Full contact details can be found 27/7 in the Solvency Solutions listing in our Uckfield Directory.

The move to new premises coincided with a major sporting commitment for Fiona, the chance to sing at the Rugby World Cup quarter final between South Africa and Wales at Twickenham Stadium, something she described as an “amazing” experience.

Fiona is a member of The Games Maker Choir which was formed to perform at the London 2012 Olympic Games and which continues to perform at other sporting events as a living legacy of the Games.

The choir learned 14 anthems ready for the Rugby World Cup, including N’kosi Sikilele, Star Spangled Banner and Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau.

Fiona said the choir was on the pitch as players came out of the tunnel for the quarter final and members were able to watch the game afterwards. “We had a fantastic view,” she said.

She added the singing went well, though it was very confusing because the acoustics left a two second delay between what the choir sang and what they could hear.

She said: “It could have been disastrous but we had been forewarned and it did go really well.”

The office move was equally successful and Fiona is pleased with her new base. She can be contacted in future at Solvency Solutions, tel 01444 848766 or by email on fiona.monson@solvencysolutions.co.uk.
